Holidays in the Languedoc RousillonLast month I was able to get away for a holiday to one of my favourite parts of the world, the Languedoc Rousillon area of France. It's a big wine growing region and although it is full of amazing castles and boasts a world heritage site in the walled citadel of Carcassonne, it is not really very touristy at all. It's a wonderful and peaceful area with great charm and friendly locals. The food and wine are superb and as well as wine there is much growing of herbs such as lavender and because it is near the coast seafood is popular and there are lagoons where salt is made and oysters and mussels are farmed. I was inspired whilst there to take a series of photographs of old doors and shutters, largely thanks to fellow photographers on the Aspire Bespoke course. The photos below were all taken in the beautiful village of Lagrasse, one of the most beautiful villages in France. It also hosts a working abbey which you can look round and the final shot is of one of the monks walking across the fields back to the abbey after working in the fields. I am already looking forward to going back soon!
